Lambert & Fils

by David Agnew

Lambert & Fils joined the KLAUS family not long after we caught its recent appearance at Euroluce in Milan, one of the largest lighting showcases on earth. As we walked through their stunning display, their featured collections immediately caught our eye. They were so minimal, with a gorgeous selection of colours — a combination of striking linear elements and milky-white glass globes. We quickly saw that these pieces would live well alongside the other brands we’ve curated at KLAUS. When we discovered it’s a Canadian brand, we were even more excited.

Sensing there was an opportunity to add Lambert & Fils to our lineup, we headed to Montreal to meet the people who run the studio. It was also a chance to see their process first-hand: the egg cartons piled with hand-polished brass connectors, the wooden moulds used to shape glass globes to the millimetre. The first time we held a Lambert & Fils light in our hands, there in the studio, we could feel the quality in the heft of its solid brass and marble —  it was obviously the real deal. Not long after, we made the partnership official.

Founder Samuel Lambert is very involved in developing every one the studio’s pieces, and this hands-on approach comes across in their tactile quality. Execution is second to none — to create lighting that looks this simple demands uncompromising attention to detail behind the scenes. The result is a refreshing minimalism that beautifully pairs with the other brands you’ll find in the KLAUS showroom.

Laurent

by Lambert et Fils

Laurent, one of Lambert & Fils’ standout collections, is a large family of suspension lights whose folded sheets of lustrous brass, sleek nickel-plated steel or colourful powder-coated aluminum seem to intersect floating globes of translucent glass.

Beaubien

by Lambert et Fils

Beaubien, a floor or wall light, shows off a more industrial side with an unusual composition of winding black pipes sturdily assembled using precision-tooled connectors made of solid brass.

Clear enough in their form to fit seamlessly into a range of interiors, and luxurious enough in their materials to make a bold design statement wherever they go, lights from Lambert & Fils are ideal for corporate environments, residential settings, or design-forward hotels or restaurants alike. This across-the-board appeal is crucial to what we do at KLAUS: for us, what’s most rewarding is seeing how people embrace a collection and make it their own.
