After listening to countless requests from fellow Architects to see his father's designs reissued, Benjamin decided to join with his brother Thomas to form the Cherner Chair Company in 1999. Since then the Cherner Chair Company has brought back into production many of Norman Cherner's most popular designs. Utilizing his original drawings and specifications, the reissued designs are manufactured with the same attention to detail found in the original hand made classics. Cherner Chair products are now distributed through dealers worldwide.
In addition to reissuing the molded plywood chairs, stools and tables, The Cherner Chair Company has introduced new designs by Benjamin Cherner.
The Cherner Chair Company is the sole licensor of Norman Cherner and Benjamin Cherner designs.
In 1954 Prince Bentheim Tecklenburg and Leo Lübke began manufacturing upholstered furniture in Rheda-Wiedenbrück under the name of COR - Latin for heart. This was because three hearts embellished the coat of arms of the founders. Barely a year later it was honoured with the first of many awards - the march of COR into the nations homes had begun. From the swinging sixties with Conseta to the seventies with Trio and the eighties with Zyklus until today.

In 1944, Wilton Carlyle Dinges founded the Electrical Machine and Equipment Company (Emeco) in Hanover Pennsylvania utilizing the skills of local craftsman. During WWII the U.S government gave him a big assignment, make chairs that could withstand water, salt air and sailors. Make chairs lightweight and make them strong, build them for a lifetime. Aluminum was the obvious choice, engineered for practical purposes, designed by real people. Emeco named the chair with a number: 1006, some people call it the Navy chair. We still call it the Ten-o-six. Forming, welding, grinding, heat-treating, finishing, anodizing- just a few of the 77 steps it takes to build an Emeco chair. No one else makes chairs this way. No one can. It takes a human eye to know when the process is done right, and it takes human hands to get it that way. Our goal. Make recycling obsolete and keep making things that last.
Since the start of our company in 1920, design has always been at the heart of ercol – design for comfort, design for function, design for beauty.
We combine practicality with looks, be it the copious storage of our sideboards, shelving units, bookcases and display cabinets, the comfort of our studio couch and of our chairs, or the utility of our coffee tables, lamp tables, desk and media units.
